Santana on Yazdani’s next album!

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

The Iranian artists’ collaborations with Western artists seem to continue after the ARIAN/de Burgh success. According to Cinemaye Maa now its Carlos Santana’s turn to be featured on Reza Yazdani’s forthcoming album! Yazdani explains that the legendary guitarist decided to perform on the album after having heard and approved the song in question. This unique collaboration will be available on Reza Yazdani’s yet-to-be-titled 4th album!

New Release: Farzad Farzin - “Shock”

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Farzad Farzin’s second legal album has just been released. “Shock” which was initially due to be out in 2006 features music by Farzin himself and Mohsen Chavoshi. It should be mentioned that Farzin is one of the few artists, POP artists in particular, to receive a hype and exposure of the new album on states TV! According to the singer the album is supposed to SHOCK the music industry! Sadly the change of the cover image from the one displayed above to a much much boring one is the first shock inflicted on me!

Thanks to Richard

Comedians too deserve Oscars

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

The first time I saw the poster and trailer for the Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder I had not the slightest idea that the black actor depicted was Robert Downey Jr.! It was first when I read his name on the poster that I realised whom I was watching and I was least said shocked! Impressed by the amazing transformation, not only physically but also characteristically. At times you forgot who you were watching and had to remind yourself! I just watched the movie and let me tell you that its a shame that comedies don’t qualify for the Oscars! Because the man’s performance in this one definitely earned one. I don’t think that there are many who can claim that they could see through the make over just by looking at him! Yet another reason why I love him as an actor, beat that if you can Johnny Depp! hehe

Youth Music Festival Cancelled

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

The Javan music festival which was held last year for the sixth time, after four years of postponing, will this year be cancelled due to lack of budget. Ershaad itself is the organizer of this youth festival.

I draw big butts and I can not lie!

Friday, September 26th, 2008

For this self-proclaimed artist there is nothing more fun and relaxing to do when the working week is about to wrap up than draw comic style pin ups! And if this sassy lady, whom I draw earlier today, happens to be endowed with a larger-than-normal posterior its because this creator likes them that way! Thats right! But i guess being a reader of my blog you’ve already reached that revelation! hehe

Pink lead in Poland

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Pink Floyd’s legendary keyboardist Richard Wright passed away just recently, a shocking news and true loss for the music industry! At the same time the vocalist David Gilmour releases a LIVE album which in a way pays a tribute to his fellow band member, considering the creative role Wright has had even in Gilmour’s solo career. The album comes in various editions and my recommendation is the 5 disc special edition for the maximum possible experience!

Kabiri is worried

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Mojtaba Kabiri’s third album “Nim Negaah” was approved by Ershaad a while back, however not granted a release permit yet! Kabiri expresses worry and doesn’t know what the delay is caused by!

Deliciously Girlicious

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

I don’t know why, but everytime I see the new girlband Girlicious I get a sudden craving for something creamy and chocolaty!

On second thought, I know exactly why!

Newcomers on the new album

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Ehsan Khajehamiri is working on his new album “Salaame Aakhar” in his home studio. For the first time Afshin Yadollahi plays a smaller role in the production, the major parts have instead been given to newcomers.

Note: Its been brought to my attention that the reported title is from Ehsan’s previous album! It is correct, however its the title that I’ve been informed about! Probably a mistake by the press.

On the outer Fringe

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

These days in the absence of LOST from the television screens I don’t need to go too far to get my abstinence under control! J. J. Abrams, one of the producers of LOST, has just come up with a new project called “Fringe”. The show is about fringe science (aka pseudo science) and conspiracy theory. Much reminiscent of the X-files, especially with the Scully-sexy type Anna Torv in the lead role! So far two episodes have been aired and managed to keep up the suspense, highly recommended if you’re into the genre!

ICOM opens online music museum

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Soon the first Iranian online music museum will be launched by the nongovernmental organization ICOM. The director Peyman Soltani, who is also the kapellmeister of the Nations’ Orchestra, says that around 3000 photos and 5000 audio clips will be available for registered remembers on www.icommusic.ir (alt. .com).

One More Enigma

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Michael Cretu has created a new album for his pseudonym ENIGMA, which will be released today! “Seven Lives Many Faces” comes also in a Limited Edition double CD for collectors. Unfortunately ENIGMA does no longer stand for cutting edge videos, lately merely recycled images from the old videos have been used for new songs! Here is the video for “La Puerta Del Cielo” from the album:

Rajabpour’s New Discovery

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Mohsen Rajabpour, the manager of both ARIAN and Benyamin, intends to present a new “star” to the domestic music scene. This young singer by the name of Soheil Tehrani is already being compared to Benyamin in terms of star-quality and music, especially with Nima Varasteh (arranger of Benyamin’s “85″) behind his upcoming debut “Baavaram Kon”. Those who are well-versed in Persian language surely see the irony of combining the word “star” with the name Soheil! Hopefully he wont turn out to be a “Setaareye Soheil”!

In the new album Benyamin has once again collaborated with Farid Ahmadi as lyricist but replaced Nima Varasteh with Payam Shams as arranger. Benyamin is said to perform his first domestic concert after the release.

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

The acclaimed musicians Bijan Kamkar and Hassan Nahid warn the young Homayoun Shajarian not to cling to his father’s name and music too much and for too long! They urge him to as soon as possible find his own style and establish a solo career completely separate from the father’s tour and concerts. There comes a time when every student must leave nest and master says Nahid and Homayoun’s time has arrived!
